ACTS Classes

A.C.T.S. Classes offer opportunities for spiritual growth through Bible and topical studies. Membership is not required to participate, and child care is provided on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm. There is no charge for most classes (check course description), but required workbooks may be purchased in the First Orlando bookstore. To register by automated phone line, call 407-514-4224.

Bible Study/Doctrine ACTS Classes

8 wks - 1 ½ hrs

A survey of Christian biblical interpretation with an emphasis upon sound principles of exegesis and interpretation. The study consists of an examination of hermeneutics in general, Bible translations, biblical genres, tools of study and interpretation, with an emphasis on practical application from a lay person’s perspective. No charge unless a student desires to work toward the Biblical Ministry Certificate offered by New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Call 407-514-4413 for details & required textbooks.

6 wks - 1 hr

Life application lessons from Chuck Swindoll’s book of the same title. See how God’s use of Elijah teaches us how we can stand in the gap for God today.

6 wks - 1 hr

Every person is destined for either Heaven or Hell. This class will examine the biblical evidence for the reality and nature of these places and what determines one’s eternal destiny. Beyond seeking satisfaction for our curiosity about these places, we will consider how our understanding of Heaven and Hell influences our Christian experience now.

6 wks - 1 ½ hrs

Eight core spiritual beliefs and attitudes serve as “triggers” for spiritual growth. Learn to understand and embrace these to grow as Christians. A great class for new believers.

10 wks - 1 hr

The Book of Hebrews was written to encourage God’s people by giving them hope as they faced difficult times. This expositional study will demonstrate the author’s purpose of exalting Christ as the only source of lasting hope in the struggles of life.

7 wks - 2 hrs

Put power into your spiritual walk and live a life that makes a difference! Take the first step of a four-part program to develop a victorious Christian life and grow a deeper relationship with Christ as you practice the six biblical disciplines of a disciple. This is not only for new Christians, but for all who thirst for a deeper relationship with the Master. Workbooks are available in the bookstore.

Put power into your spiritual walk and live a life that makes a difference! Take the first step of a four-part program to develop a victorious Christian life and grow a deeper relationship with Christ as you practice the six biblical disciplines of a disciple. This is not only for new Christians, but for all who thirst for a deeper relationship with the Master. Workbooks are available in the bookstore.

7 wks - 2 hrs

Overcome the enemy by learning how to rely on God’s Word and stand victoriously. As you begin demolishing your personal spiritual strongholds to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ,” you will learn to believe God for all He wants to do through you. Then join God’s mission of making disciples by identifying your stage in growth and your role in ministry. Discover your spiritual gifts and determine a ministry to which God is leading you!

8 wks - 1 ½ hrs

Learn to defend your faith and provide reasons to believe to a world needing the hope of Christ. Specifically for Life Group Teachers, but all are welcome. Suggested books (but not required): The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith by Lee Strobel.

12 wks - 2 hrs

The Unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ is a study of our Savior’s glorious appearing at his victorious second coming and the signs and schedule of the end time events. Books available in the bookstore.

12 wks - 1 ¼ hrs

Paul’s letter to the church at Rome is a complete and detailed statement of the gospel message. It is a general theological document of the essence of the Christian faith, proclaiming the righteousness of God and declaring His gracious provision for our salvation.
