“The Preschool, Children’s and Student Ministries have teamed up to educate the congregation on the needs we have to serve our next generation on a weekly basis,” said Stacy Holman, Director of the Preschool Ministry at First Orlando. “It takes a lot to run these ministries, and that’s what we’re trying to help the people here at First Orlando understand. We want to share the need and encourage people to get involved.”

This effort to educate and recruit volunteers is what “One Heart” is all about. The tagline, if you can call it that, of the ministry is, “Changing the world . . . one heart at a time.”

“We need people to know that this is not just for fun, but that you are actually helping to change the world as you serve these children every week,” Stacy said.

Many people think that because First Orlando is so big, there are plenty of volunteers available to do the work. But that, unfortunately, is hardly the case. If you’ve never heard it before, there is something in the Church called “the 20-80 factor.” That term reflects the approximate amount — 20 percent — of people in any given church that does 80 percent of the work.
