Starting Point is designed to help lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating a conversational environment where they can explore faith and experience community.

As we look at that statement, there are three (3) important aspects of the statement.

1.    Explore Faith- Starting Point will offer a forum for people to explore, investigate survey, discuss, discover, experiment with, and examine issues of faith.

2.    Experience Community- The discussions that will take place in Starting Point will undoubtedly allow participants to feel a part of an authentic community.   Although the length of Starting Point is only 10 weeks, it allows time to develop bonds and friendships.

3.    Conversational Environment- Starting Point is not designed to be a teaching forum, apologetics class, or a theology class.  At the core of Starting Point, it is a conversational environment where discussion happens.

There are five (5) values that we feel strongly are important in Starting Point and should be the measuring rod of success with our groups.

1.    Authentic Relationships- Group members should feel loved and accepted.

2.    Biblical Authority- Scripture is the basis for all group discussion.

3.    Humble Leadership- Leaders value group member’s beliefs and opinions.

4.    Relevant Environment- The group should be engaging, appealing, and helpful.

5.    Spiritual Growth- Group members should grow in their relationship with God.

Starting Point was conceived at North Point Community Church in Atlanta, Georgia.  It has been an integral part of their DNA for the last twelve (12) years.  This is the first year of Starting Point at First Baptist Church Orlando.  We anticipate a number of groups to begin in early 2009 as we ask God’s blessing on this ministry.
