W3: Women, Worldview And The Word

The heart and soul of the Bible is its story, both in the sense that it is about God and that He is the ultimate Storyteller. It is the true story of the world that shapes history. Just as a limited number of puzzle pieces cannot communicate the complete picture on a puzzle box cover, Bible stories disconnected from each other and the chronology of the greater story cannot fully portray the message of God’s redeeming grace.

When we allow Scripture to speak for itself and shape our response to God and our circumstances, then we come to understand that ordinary women play a vital role in God’s story and that purpose in life is found as we find our place in His story.

Women, Worldview and the Word - Chronological Bible Discipleship arranges God’s big story into 14 memorable eras. This study helps us unpack worldview-shaping truths about God, women and the Word, inviting women to discover their place in His story by reading through the Bible in a year, being part of a large group teaching time, and joining a small community group discussion and fellowship.

The stories of women found in the majority of the eras contain many issues and elements with which women of every generation can identify. Following the threads that are traced throughout each era and each story (the central role of the Word of God in the lives of God’s people, the shedding of the blood of the innocent on behalf of the guilty, the path and progress of faith in the lives of God’s people, etc.) allows readers to understand more clearly their own journey with the Living God.

The primary goal of this study is to enable participants to understand the big story of the Bible and to gain a high view of Scripture as it alone reveals God as He is – not as we want Him to be or who we even think that He is.

The secondary goal of W3 is to help participants discover truth for themselves.
