Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in all of Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the Ends of the Earth.”

Here at First Baptist Orlando, we have a Passion to Serve: to the Glory of God! At MissionsFest, we have the opportunity to serve through various ministries here in Orlando, around the United States, and all over the world. As you travel through the global service experience, we encourage you to think about how God is calling you to serve in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the Ends of the Earth.

Global Service Experience Stations:

Lydia House: Lydia House is a non-profit organization and a ministry of First Baptist Orlando and Hope Church of Orlando. Our mission is to minister to women who were incarcerated, by providing shelter and a Faith-based program that teaches Biblical Life Principles. We build on the foundations that lead them to eternal life found in Christ, create lasting change in their lives and bring glory to God. Each week, a team of ladies visits the 33rd Street Jail, where they minister to the women behind bars.

Center for Pregnancy: The First Life Center for Pregnancy is provided primarily for women in crisis pregnancy circumstances. Services provided include free pregnancy tests, items needed during pregnancy, pregnancy education, food pantry, abortion alternatives, post abortion counseling, and referrals for adoption, medical, legal, government, and housing assistance. Having a pregnancy, especially an unwanted pregnancy, can be difficult. The Center for Pregnancy at First Baptist Orlando is here to help with whatever needs you may have.

2nd Chances: We provide high quality, gently used merchandise at an affordable price. 100% of all net revenues are used to support mission causes of First Baptist Orlando. 2nd Chances Resale Shoppe is a ministry of First Baptist Orlando.

Love Orlando: Neighborhood Connect: Love Orlando: Neighborhood Connect is an opportunity for our church to join the greater body of believers in Orlando to minister in the neighborhoods surrounding our church. We will join forces to take the gospel into the streets, homes, and community centers of Orlando and truly learn to “Love our Neighbors.”

Missions Training Seminars

Sunday March 3, 2013
4pm & 5:15pm

Session 1 Seminar Options: (4:00 pm)

  • Sharing Your Faith—Leader: Andrew Bosco-- As followers of Christ, we share in the blessing of knowing the message of hope and salvation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. God's biblical command to us is to go and share that message with everyone. But how? This seminar will give you the practical tools you need to share your faith without fear with everyone you meet.
  • T4T, A Discipleship Re-Revolution- Leader Bill and Grace Egan—Around the world, people are learning what it means to be an obedient follower of Christ. As they choose to follow him, they are being trained to share their faith with those around them. Training for trainers is a reproducible model of discipleship and church planting that will transform the way you see church and challenge you to make disciples.
  • Ministering to Muslims— Leader: Patrick Barrett—Many followers of Islam have emigrated from places where missionaries cannot go and have settled here in Central Florida. We have the unprecedented opportunity to engage them with the gospel right here in our own back yard! In this session, you will gain a basic understanding of Islam and Arab culture and learn how to love your Muslim neighbors so that doors will be opened to share the gospel with them.
  • Disaster Relief: Clean-Up and Recovery—Leader: Ray Shands—Hurricanes, Floods, tornadoes, fires… We are all familiar with the realities of natural disasters. Oftentimes the greatest opportunities to serve come in these great times of needs. This one hour seminar will include the first steps to becoming a certified Florida Baptist Disaster Relief Volunteer in Clean Up and Recovery.

Session 2 Seminar Options (5:15 pm)

  • Women Reaching Women—Leader Tiffany Dewett- Around the World, God is opening up many doors to minister to Women and share the Gospel with them—often times behind the closed doors of their homes. Come learn about the many tools that have been developed specifically to share the love of Christ with women.
  • Partnerships—Leader Bill Mitchell- Join us for an informal question and answer session as we share the ways that God is working through First Baptist Orlando to plant churches in places like Denver, Colorado and Madagascar. Learn about our plans for future development and how you can be involved.
  • Business as Mission—Leader Matt McGee- God is using the easily accessible channels of the global marketplace to spread the gospel to the least reached peoples of the world. Come learn how you can position your lives, businesses, resources, international connections, and energies to be on the forefront of fulfilling the Great Commission.
  • Missions in Your Own Backyard - Reaching Tomorrow's International Leaders Today—Leader: Aubrey Truex-- Have you ever gone on a missions trip, and after your return wondered how your experiences could be used as an investment for God's kingdom? Have you ever wondered if God could use your skills and abilities for missions, but didn't have the time or money to go on a missions trip? Come to a seminar that will reveal a missions field in your own backyard - international students who come to the US to study. The leaders of the next generation of the world are coming to the US for an education. Wouldn't it be great if they left with a better understanding of Christianity? Or became believers themselves? Come and find out how God can use you in this vital ministry.
