Defending the Faith in the 21st Century

Defending Christianity in today's world is not nearly as simple as it was 50 years ago, said Christian apologist Dinesh D'Souza. “We are told in scripture to contend for our faith,” the New York Times best-selling author told a crowd of about 1,500 at First Orlando on Wednesday, November 12 in a message he called, “What Is So Great About Christianity.” “What that means is that we should not be surprised if we encounter some resistance and opposition.”

The False Allure of Prosperity Theology

As anyone who channel surfs can tell you, evangelical Christianity sure gets a lot of airplay. Pick up the remote and round the bases on any day of the week, and you’ll run across a half-dozen television channels preaching the Word of God. What a blessing that is! We should thank God that we live in a society where the truth is so widely disseminated. Only a scant minority of the world’s populace is so privileged to live under the sound of the gospel. Kids Are Like Footballs

In virtually every outdoor game played with a ball, the shape of the ball is round. That makes the direction the ball will take, in the course of the game, somewhat predictable. And that’s the very thing that makes the game of football a little more interesting than most. The shape of the ball is elliptical, not round, and is therefore far more unpredictable as to the direction it will bounce. You never really know where it will go. Think of how many football games have been decided on an unexpected bounce.

Holocaust Film a Must-See For Parents and Their Children

The Holocaust is not only one of darkest events of the 20th Century, it is also one of the most difficult subjects for parents to talk about with their children. The new film, “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” will help parents to at least broach the subject with their kids. One of the strengths of this powerful new movie, based on the 2006 book by Irish novelist John Boyne, is that it looks at the Holocaust through the eyes of an 8-year-old German boy named Bruno.
