First Orlando KIDS

No one will have more influence on your child than you! We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. It is our hope that we can partner with you from the very beginning. We want to be your biggest fans, your strongest supporters, and your trusted guides as you raise your child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

First Orlando KIDS meets during each service on Sunday mornings and is the place where your children will be safe, have fun and learn about Jesus on their level! Children birth through 5th grade have exciting experiences during each of our services times!

KIDS on Campus

KIDS Programming will be located in our new KIDS 1 Building.

  • We encourage families to enter through the new atrium or through Welcome Center A.
  • Preschool and Special Needs will be located on the first floor and Elementary will be located on the second floor.
  • Families can use the KIDS parking lot (outside of KIDS 1), there are purple KIDS signs on the light poles or parking near Henry Chapel will provide best access.

When you arrive on campus, be ready for a redesigned check-in process to help support a safe environment.

  • Every staff member, volunteer, and child in KIDS will have their temperature taken before checking in to KIDS programming. We aren’t able to check in anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher.
  • All staff and volunteers will be wearing masks. We have masks available at our check in desks for kids who would like to wear one, however, masks are not required for children attending KIDS programming.
  • Be sure to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands before entering a KIDS classroom. Encourage your child to do the same.
  • You’ll see lots of big waves, so let’s avoid hugs, high-fives, and handshakes.

We’ll all need to work together to help keep KIDS safe, so please stay home and participate in KIDS Online if your child:

  • Has had a fever in the past 14 days.
  • Shows any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Has been around anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Milestones & Resources

We love partnering with our families during their parenting journey! Below is a map of a child’s development and how you can help your child discover an authentic faith:

Milestones Map for Authentic Faith

Every parent has 936 weeks of influence from the time their child is born until they graduate. Parent Cue helps you count the weeks and connects you with practical things to read, do, or say to help you engage with the heart of your child this week. Designed for parents of babies through high schoolers, these prompts will come in the form of videos and things to talk about in the morning, at mealtime, or while you are cuddling with your toddler or driving in the car. Each week there’s even a Phase Cue to help you understand the developmental phase your child is in today.

Volunteer Testimony

“There are so many reasons I serve. One reason I serve because being a part of a family with special needs, I know the value of knowing my kids are in a safe, loving environment with truth being spoken into their lives while I can worship the Lord with peace in my heart. Each and every child is precious and deserves to hear just how much God loves them! I want to be a part of helping every family to experience that same peace and ensuring every child feels seen and loved. Seeing people who serve with the same heart gives my heart with peace and hope.❤️ It’s so hard to capture all the reasons I serve and there are literally a hundred ways it impacts my life, but hope and love are among the greatest of these.”

KIDS Discipleship

For families who are serving or attending an on-campus life group, we are excited to offer a 2nd hour option for your child every Sunday at 10am! KIDS Discipleship groups are a great opportunity for your child to grow deeper in their faith as they focus on scripture memory and defending what they believe!

We are excited to partner with your family. If you’d like to be a part of reaching kids for Christ through our Sunday morning kids services or KIDS Discipleship Groups we’d love to have you on our kids team!

Note: KIDS Discipleship will require scripture memory, work at home, and regular attendance and commitment. In order to continue to provide the best possible experience for your child, as well as keeping our ratios of kids/leaders to meet CDC guidelines, Elementary kids are able to attend their Large & Small Group experience on the 2nd floor for only one hour.

Parent/Child Dedication

As a Southern Baptist Church, First Orlando does not baptize young children who are not old enough to understand the Gospel. Our Parent/Child Dedication offers an opportunity for parents to dedicate their children to the Lord at a tender age. In addition, they publicly commit to provide the child with an environment of love, peace, encouragement, and teaching so one day, they may become His disciple and help others to do the same.

Our next Parent/Child Dedication is scheduled for Saturday, January 30th.

FAQ

We celebrate baby dedications and do not baptize infants, and baby dedication is not infant baptism. We believe that when people are old enough to understand what it means to put their faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, they should have the opportunity to make that choice for themselves. A preschooler is not able to understand sin, forgiveness, the sacrifice our Savior made for us and what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Baby Dedication is about your commitment to lead your child into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, so that as he or she gets older, you are able to guide your child and help him or her understand what that relationship means. We pray that every child, regardless of whether they've been dedicated, will one day respond to the Gospel in faith and make the decision to get baptized.
