Easter: In The Beginning
by: Pastor David Uth | March 12, 2018
In Genesis, it all starts. And it starts with these words:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:1-2
You know what I love about that verse? It’s that people talk about “In the beginning…God.” Yes, that’s absolutely right. But what was God doing?
What did God do in the beginning?
He hovered over chaos. There was no form. There was substance, but no form.
The spirit of God hovered over and out of that chaos came the most incredible creation ever.
You see, I think God is still creating.
I think for a marriage that is in chaos, the spirit of God just hovers, and out of that chaos He wants to make something beautiful and help you create the relationship that He wants you to have.
I think of a life that’s in chaos. God’s spirit comes and wants to make something beautiful, if we’ll let Him, out of the chaos that occurs in our lives.
So this Easter season is really about that.
It’s about how God invaded…literally invaded…this world of chaos to bring sense…to bring something good.
And so I pray that as you celebrate the death and burial and the resurrection of Jesus, this Easter, you’ll remember that God can still create something beautiful…even out of chaos.
God bless you.
