Same Kind of Different as Me
by: Danny De Armas | October 18, 2017
I recently previewed THE SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME and I enthusiastically recommend it to you. But I need to make a confession first.
One of my pet peeves is when someone tells me about a movie. I like seeing movies without any knowledge of the movie’s story, theme or plot. In fact, I’m probably the only person who purpose arrives late to a theater because I want to miss the movie previews. The previews reveal too much of the story and I want the story to unfold before me as I view it, rather than to know it already. So, I’m the guy you always hate who is climbing over you to get to his seat just as the movie, the main attraction, begins!
Needless to say, it’s a challenge to recommend a movie to you and not tell you about it both at the same time, but I’m going to try.
I want to recommend SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME to you because I think it will affect you for good. For your good, and for the good of others. First, I feel the need to warn you that this is not a “Christian” movie and its primary aim is not explaining the gospel message. So don’t go expecting to hear about Jesus. Instead, go expecting to see something that Jesus would do.
This film captures a true story that will move you and inspire you. In a way that only a few movies can do, I believe that you will find yourself as a character in the story. When you do, you will desire to experience the joy that you witness on the screen. It’s my prayer than many Jesus followers, like you and me, will see this movie and be inspired to live out this story in our own lives as a result. If that happens, we will be richer and we will experience what Paul called, “…that which is truly life.” 1 Timothy 6:19
The movie opens this weekend at many area theaters, and I encourage you to see it. For more information visit the link below. But beware, the click will expose the story of the movie. If I were you, I’d go to the movie without clicking the link!
