At First Baptist Orlando, we are a diverse community that loves all people and that meets people where they are. But we know that “church” is sometimes associated with exclusivity and judgment. That’s not who we are. We aim to be a church that people come to, knowing that we are focused on following Jesus, that they are valued, and that their needs will be met.
As we prayed about where God was leading us in the coming years, we had the dream of reintroducing First Orlando to our Central Florida community in a variety of avenues. One of those ways is a refresh of our logo. And after months of intentional prayer and collaborative design, we’re excited about where God is leading us!
We want our logo to be simplified and welcoming, contemporary, with a hint at the traditional.
“Then bursting forth in glorious day; up from the grave He rose again!” A burst is a design consisting of rays or “beams” radiating outward. The shape of the icon is symbolic of how the tomb was empty and Jesus was raised to life after three days, bringing light into the world.
The subtle cross shape at the center reminds us that Jesus gave His life for each of us, the ultimate symbol of love.
A cornerstone is traditionally the first stone laid for a structure, with all other stones laid in reference. For over 150 years, First Orlando has played an integral part in the culture of Orlando and is considered a cornerstone of the City Beautiful.
A design that calls to mind themes of community and togetherness, through directional expressions of inward, outward, and upward movements.
