The Women’s Jail Ministry ministers to an often-forgotten group of women. This group of dedicated women leads weekly Bible studies and worship services with the inmates, and many engage in one-on-one mentoring relationships. The true heart of this ministry is to love, accept, pray with them, and share the Gospel of Christ. For more information, please call Women’s Ministry at (407) 514-4233.
FAQ’s
When do you visit the jail?
Our services are as follows:
Sunday evening Bible Study
Monday afternoon Discipleship Class
Tuesday afternoon Discipleship Class
Wednesday afternoon Bible Study
What do the services consist of?
We conduct services for the inmates every week. We pray, sing, and have a Bible lesson with them. We often have the opportunity to pray individually with the women and also meet with them one-on-one for discipleship.
How long do the services last?
Services average to last 2 hours. We try to be flexible with our time so that we can answer questions and pray with the women individually.
Do you keep any contact with the women after they are released?
We do our best to keep in contact with the women, and have recently started a Lifegroup to address their circumstances and needs.
Where is the jail?
We visit inmates at the Female Detention Center of the Orange County Jail. It is located at across from the intersection of John Young Parkway, just a few blocks from church. We conduct our services in a classroom inside the jail. This room is clean, bright, and out of the cellblock area.
How do you schedule your volunteers?
Volunteers go to the jail in groups of two or three. Scheduling is flexible, according to the availability of the team members. Some volunteer on a weekly basis, some monthly, and others on alternate weeks. We will work with you!
Do I need some special skill to be part of the jail ministry?
Absolutely not. What are really needed are women who love the Lord, have a heart for the incarcerated, and are willing to be flexibile in ministering to these women and their special needs.
What other areas within the Jail Ministry are available?
